¶ Pressure drop tool
Pressure drop tool is accessible from the navigation menu. This tool is used to find out the flow rate for a specific pressure drop or vice versa.
The pressure drop tool will appear in the new window.
¶ Input values:
- Input variable selection
Choose between the input variable parameter being the flow or the pressure drop of the unit. The result will show the corresponding pressure drop or flow, respectively. - Heat exchanger
State the heat exchanger you want information about. You may choose a heat exchanger from the dropdown or by typing it in the input box. Only one heat exchanger can be selected at a time. - Fluid
Select the fluid you are looking at. The tool is accurate only when fluids of similar physical properties are used on both sides of the BPHE. - Number of passes and of plates
Fill in the number of passes and plates for the unit. - Reference temperature
Fill in the required reference temperature for water. Choose what unit to use for your input value. - Input units
Switch between using Metric units or the imperial unit system (US) for your inputs. Use the drop down box next to inputs to select specific unit for your data. - Input data
This is editable, fill in the range for the input variables (flow or pressure drop).
¶ Result
Press Calculate and the flow rate will be calculated for the given range and vice versa.
- Print
To get the printout on PDF of the calculated range in the list and the graph displayed press print - Graph [pressure v/s flow]
Based on the calculation range displayed in the list, a graph is plotted between the pressure drop and flow rate. The graph can be plotted as pressure drop vs flow or flow vs pressure drop by choosing the input variable as flow or pressure drop at the top of the page. The units of pressure drop and flow can be changed in the chart by changing the units in the pressure drop unit textbox and flow unit textbox above the input data column.
